Steps to Fix issues with Dongle or Data Card

  • Firstly, ensure that the SIM card is inserted properly within the data card SIM card slot. Make sure that your sim allows 2G or 3G connection, if not enable it first.
  • On inserting Dongle or data card if it’s not detected, unplug and try re-inserting or restarting it and see if it helps. If the problem persists then it indicates driver issue. If the Modem or the Dongle is not supported on plug-in, it looks like Driver issue. Go to device manager and update all the device drivers especially the one responsible for network connection.
  • Check that your USB is working properly or your USB is not disabled. Try plugging Data card to other USB port on the system and see if it shows up.
  • At times it has been noticed that on hitting the Connect button the data card became unresponsive or suddenly the data card hangs while working. This can be the result of outdated driver. Visit the manufacturer website and see if the latest update for the data card is available. Install or update the Dongle drivers.
  • If data card is unable to detect Internet connection check the interface to see the status of network coverage available on your area or check the Internet connection or system network connection.
  • Data card is connected but unable to browse then probably your browser is in offline mode. Open files or Tools and go to Work Offline tab in IE browser and make sure the option is not checked.
As Data card itself installs the software or driver responsible for its functioning, take it to its manufacturer to verify whether it’s working or is itself the culprit.
That’s all. After trying out the fixes here you probably will fix your issues with dongle connection and browse Internet without much hassle
